Phil Newman, MEng, BSc, Head of Innovation, Anglo American
Over the past 8 years, Phil has been responsible for Anglo American’s open innovation efforts; designing and executing on 12 Technology Open Forums covering the mining value chain; bringing together over 500 subject matter experts from a diverse range of other industries to focus on the grand challenges facing mining. Thousands of ideas were generated and a number of value-accretive projects are in progress.
Phil is currently focused on the commercialization and roll-out of a new tailings management system, Hydraulic Dewatered Stacking but remains connected to the successful innovation team at Anglo American.
