Antonia Mihaylova, Senior Manager, ICMM
Antonia Mihaylova is a Senior Manager at ICMM, leading the tailings management workstream and the Consolidated Mining Standard Initiative. Prior to ICMM, Antonia was at the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), where she headed the Director General’s Office, serving as Special Adviser to the Director General. Prior to that, she managed the Global Tailings Review, the process that led to the development of the ICMM, UNEP and PRI-backed Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM). She also served as a member of the International Advisory Panel convened by UNEP, the Church of England Pensions Board and the Council on Ethics of the Swedish National Pension Fund (on behalf of PRI) to support the establishment of a Global Tailings Management Institute. Antonia has spent several years at an international development consultancy, working on World Bank and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)-funded mineral resource governance projects across Africa and Asia. In the early stages of her career, Antonia worked for an environmental NGO Global Greengrants Fund, supporting grassroots nature conservation initiatives. She holds a bachelor’s in economics and politics; and a master’s in environmental policy from the London School of Economics (LSE).
