History

The Tailings and Mine Waste (TMW) Conference series began in 1978 and is one of the most respected and established mining conferences in the world. This Conference is hosted annually through the Colorado State University in conjunction with the Norman B. Keevil Institute of Mining Engineering at the University of British Columbia and the University of Alberta.

2025 Event

In November 2025, the Tailings and Mine Waste Conference hosted over 870 delegates, including students, professionals and practitioners in mine waste, from all over the world. This was a vibrant and interactive forum to discuss and discover current and future implications for the mining and environmental communities.

The conference was hosted November 2–5 by the University of Alberta Geotechnical Centre at the University of Alberta.
