About

History

The Tailings and Mine Waste (TMW) Conference series began in 1978 and is one of the most respected and established mining conferences in the world. This Conference is hosted annually through the Colorado State University in conjunction with the Norman B. Keevil Institute of Mining Engineering at the University of British Columbia and the University of Alberta.

2023 Event

In November 2023, the Tailings and Mine Waste Conference hosted over 1,200 delegates, including students, professionals and practitioners in mine waste, from all over the world. This was a vibrant and interactive forum to discuss and discover current and future implications for the mining and environmental communities.

Global experts and students in the field gathered at the J.W. Marriot Parq Hotel in the heart of beautiful Vancouver, B.C, Canada: November 5-8, 2023. Attendees of this event included mine waste and tailings management and reclamation engineers, geotechnical engineers, company executives, regulators, students and researchers.

A strong contingent of student volunteers represented the future of the mining industry at this event and contributed greatly to its success. The 2023 conference also included an extensive and sold out Tradeshow with 74 international exhibitors.

Congratulations to Dr. Caius Priscu, Chair of Tailings and Mine Waste 2023, and thank you to all those who attended, sponsored and participated in this momentous event and contributed to its resounding success!
